Before a sports massage is conducted, we will go through a detailed questionnaire to find out about your history. We will also run through some specific tests to assess your posture, range of movement and the strength of individual muscles (where necessary).
Soft Tissue Therapy (Sports Massage) is the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of soft tissues in the body including muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments. It is applicable not just to sports people but to anybody wishing to guard against or recover from a soft tissue injury.
The techniques used by sports massage practitioners have been developed to ensure effective and efficient results are gained from each massage given. Soft Tissue Therapy may:
- Improve circulation and lymphatic flow
- Assist in the removal of metabolic waste
- Sedate or stimulate nerve endings
- Reduce swelling
- Increase or decrease muscle tone
- Aid in reducing the risk of becoming injured
- Assist in mental preparation for sporting participation
- Help reduce stress and muscle soreness
You do not need to be a sports performer to benefit from Soft Tissue Therapy. The benefits above can also help relieve many day to day problems, such as repetitive strain injuries, ligament sprains, muscle strains, muscular/fascial tension and fatigue.
Regular sports massage from us will help reduce and prevent musculoskeletal imbalances which can cause poor performance, reduce your strength/power, increase your stress levels and increase your level of discomfort and pain.
